2015 in Review

I can’t believe another year has come and gone…

This year was definetly the year of travel, as you will see in this recap, almost every month we got to explore somewhere new. I realize that not all years we will be so lucky, so I want to take time to treasure these memories. Without further ado, our year in review…

January

We flew home to Texas and got to see all of our loved ones.

While I was still in Texas, Travis went diving in Byron Bay and made friends with this guy.

I started working part-time as a substitute teacher. We also visited Noosa for the first time on Valentine’s Day weekend.

March

We visited nearby Straddie Island for Monique’s 30th, which was also my birthday, and dressed up as Kelly and Zack.

My sister came to visit for 9 days and we had a blast in Sydney, Moreton Island, Byron Bay and hanging with the wildlife in Brisbane.

I met Travis in Melbourne and we drove along the Great Ocean Road and marveled at the 12 Apostles.

We celebrated Easter just the two of us. Later in the month I met Travis in Adelaide and we spent the weekend exploring the McLaren Vale, Adelaide Hills and the Barossa Valley wine regions.

The rest of the month we laid pretty low and tried to save up money for our big trip the following month. We did do some fun things locally like attend our neighborhood festival and watch the piglet races.

We also celebrated our two year wedding anniversary and our first expat anniversary.

August

We celebrated Trav’s birthday at the beginning of the month and ran our second 10k.

I also started hosting Travel Tuesday on the blog!

October

We spent Labor Day being tourists in our own state and found a cute new (to us) beach.

We spent a long weekend in Tasmania, checking out the beaches, the wineries and the adorable towns.

I dressed up as an ice cream cone for my first Australian (Halloween themed) hen’s party.

Love this cheeky little devil. Only three more weeks until she's a Mrs!

November

The first two weeks in November were spent playing tour guide to our friend, Sean, who came to visit. He saw Sydney, Brisbane, Byron Bay, and Melbourne.

The day after he left, Thomas and Jenn arrived and we took off to Bali after a quick few days in Brissy.

Travis had the sassiest drink. #BromatesGiving #bluefriday

We met back up with them the following weekend in Sydney. We saw our first symphony at the Opera House.

December

I got offered a teaching job for next school year (January-December)! I’m very excited to be back in my own classroom.

We went home to Texas to spend the holidays with our family and friends.

Whew, what a year! I remember writing last year’s review and thinking there was no way 2015 could be more eventful. Ha! I am pretty sure we blew last year out of the water. I hope you enjoyed following along (and watching Trav’s hair grow as the month’s went by). Cheers to an even better 2016!
