Feeling 29: A 30 Before 30 Update

Well I’m officially less than a year from turning the big 3-0, which isn’t nearly as terrifying as I pictured it would be when I was just a young 25 year old. A perk of having a husband that is four years older than you is that you always feel young ☺️.

I turned 29 two weeks ago, so I decided I would touch base on what I have left on my 30 Before 30 list (you can check out the full list here).30Before30

1. Run a 5k in under 30 minutes

I feel like since I have ran a 10k in less than an hour I should be able to cross this one off, but I’m a stickler for rules so I won’t since I haven’t properly been timed in a specifically 5k race. Running is not happening for me lately so I better start back up post baby if I want to cross this one off.

4. Visit Spain

Highly doubtful this is happening. Baby in August, home for the holidays in December, not much time for a European vacation. Maybe it will be bumped to a 5 year bucket list.

5. Tour the Greek Islands

Same here

6. Start a family

Working on this one ?

7. Earn money doing something creative

Does blogging count? I would count Teachers Pay Teachers but I already have that on here.

8. Learn to sew

I should really get on this. I take clothes to the cleaners to get buttons sewed back on.

10. Paddlesurf
Still want to do this, plus I’ve heard it’s a good exercise for knocked up chicks.

11. Ride in a hot air balloon

Still want to do this, but don’t want to pay for it.

15. Horseback ride on a beach
I feel like I can find a place to do this here, adding it to my list to look into.

17. Learn calligraphy
Also being added to my list. There’s classes all the time, maybe I can squeeze one in during school holidays.

21. Learn how to make Eggs Benedict

Nope and now I can’t even eat it.

22. Surprise Travis (it’s not easy)

I feel like the pregnancy was the perfect opportunity for this but he was convinced I was pregnant before I even took the test. On to Plan B…

27. Go to Mexico (I just think it’s weird I have never been)

Well, this was supposed to happen in April but not anymore (stupid Zika)

30. Read 100 books (you can see my book list here)

I will need to get pretty ambitious. If I ever finish the 85 pregnancy books I’m reading that would help. I wish blogs counted as books.

So to recap, 14 to go and 3 that are most likely not going to happen (the traveling ones ?, maybe I should swap them for something more feasible- is that allowed?) and 11 things to work on in the next year. I better get busy!

  1. A great, fun list Courtney! I think learning calligraphy sounds like something so great, it just looks effortlessly beautiful 🙂 Totally know what you mean about feeling young, Carlos and I have a 5-year age gap so I’m always feeling young, ha 😉

  2. hahaha at surprise travis. love it. you could always go to spain on the way back to Oz from home in december or something, i mean it’s closer to the US than Oz, that’s for sure.

  3. I think you’re making great progress, and I love the mixture of things you have on your list. I have a 30 before 30 list too and I’ve done about 3 of them. I turn 30 in just over 2 months… Oops. Also I think it’s definitely allowed to switch out things that don’t suit your position in life any more! No1 on mine was buy a house and that’s totally off the cards now. Hopefully in favour of something much more exciting!

  4. Haha, I love that “If I ever finish the 85 pregnancy books I’m reading that would help” remark. And the hot air balloon one is exactly how I feel too, haha! Oh man, I’m 29 right now too, and I feel like I need to do something great before I turn 30. I never made a list like this, but it’s good to have these kind of big and small goals, even the silly ones like surprising Travis. 😉
