Four Years. Four Photos.

Last Thursday was our four year wedding anniversary. This year the date seemed to sneak up on both of us, and neither us planned or bought anything. Travis spent the day at a work golf tournament and Leighton and I were running around at the shops with a friend. We always meet Trav for happy hour at the local watering hole by our house on Thursdays, so we decided to just have dinner there as well.

Year Three: By the Numbers

Hi Friends! I didn’t mean to take the past week and a half off of blogging, but honestly I haven’t had too much to write about. We have been taking it pretty easy lately waiting for our new family member to arrive.

Today is our three year anniversary so I figured that was worthy of breaking my silence. Honestly three years doesn’t seem like that long, I honestly can’t really remember what life was like before we were married. Everything is so much more fun as a duo. ūüôā Here’s a little recap of the past year, by the numbers.

Memories of Year Two

July 27th, 2015 marks two years since we said I Do.

Our first year of marriage was pretty similar to the previous two that we spent dating. We lived in the same city, hung out with the same people and worked at the same jobs.

Year two was a completely different story.

Last year at this time I was blogging (this) from the airport as I got ready to fly back across the world (after only three weeks in Brisbane) for my best friend’s wedding. We had moved into our new apartment only a few days before and I still wasn’t sure where I called home.

Looking back on that it seems like so much has changed in just 365 days. The past year has been so different than the first. We created a new life¬†together, thousands of miles away from anyone we knew. Our two lives merged into one as we depended on each other not only for typical spousal things but as each other’s only companion.

There are so many things I want to remember about this influential year.

Important things like making a home out of our little loft and falling in love with our neighborhood.

Or how I truly learned to depend on Travis for the good portion of the year when I was a stay at home wife with no job.

Scary things like overcoming my (extreme) fear and attempting to scuba diving at the Great Barrier Reef.

Or learning how to drive standard on the left side of the road (with a less than patient teacher).

Exciting things like flying across the world to spend Thanksgiving with my family in London,

and then taking a road trip with them to Brugge for the Christmas markets.

New things like spending Christmas just the two of us (in Fiji so we weren’t too distraught).

And learning to be alone as Travis traveled more and more for work (it just means cereal for dinner and Parenthood marathons).

Road trips through two different states (The Great Ocean Road and the South Australia wine country)

and exploring our own state, one weekend at a time.

Little things like our daily routines; walks to the gym before the sun comes up, bike rides to the farmer’s market on Saturday mornings and lazy Sundays on the couch.

Nerve-wracking things like starting a  job in a new country (and being surprised with my favorite fro-yo after my first day).

Or wondering where we are going to be in the next few years.

Fun things like showing members of both of our families where we live and taking them around Australia and New Zealand.

But also the home sickness when we have to miss out on big events in our friends’ and family’s lives.

I realize that no two years are going to be the same, so I want to be able to look back on this year and remember all of the big things and the little things.

It’s been a life-changing, amazing and somewhat¬†terrifying year and I can’t for many, many more.

One Year.

It’s still technically our anniversary in the states and I’m bored waiting on my flight at the Sydney Airport; so I thought I would reflect on my favourite moments from “the best day ever.”

One year ago today these things happened (in no particular order)…

But most importantly, this happened…

It’s been a wild ride so far and I can’t imagine a better person to live this crazy life with. ūüôā

Here’s to many more years and adventures together!
