A Weekend in Noosa

Hi friends! Hope everyone is having a magical holiday season. We are about to head off to Texas for two whole months, so I figured I should share about our recent weekend getaway to Noosa before it’s too late.

Travis and I spent a weekend in Noosa one million years ago (almost four, super old posts here) and we have been saying for ages we needed to go back. It’s an easy almost two hour drive from Brisbane and absolutely stunning, so it seems crazy we haven’t been lately.

Houston’s First Beach Trip

Hi friends! I haven’t been the best at keeping up with blogging lately, but I thought I would share some pictures from Houston’s first beach trip. I feel like it’s an Aussie right of passage.

We didn’t plan on going to the beach until we woke up Saturday and realized we had no plans. Trav consulted google maps and decided on Maroochydore, mostly because it was a beach we hadn’t been to before. We started loading up the car and realized we forgot to get our beach tent back from our friends who borrowed it. We had already committed though, so we stuck with the plan.

Mother’s Day on Coochiemudlo Island

Hi friends! Hope everyone is having a great week so far. We are living in the land of toddler and newborn craziness, but luckily my parents are here making it much more manageable.

Both kids are napping, so I figured I would finally post about our little day trip from Mother’s Day.

Travis told me the day before that he had a surprise planned for Sunday (Mother’s Day) so not to make any plans. I woke up after a nice sleep in to Leighton shoving gummy worms and a card in my face. Travis surprised me with the beautiful flowers that I had been admiring at the flower shop on the end of our street (and they are still alive and pretty today!). Continue reading

Easter in the Granite Belt {Continued}

Hi friends! Today I am sharing the second half of our Easter weekend in the Granite Belt. You can catch up on the first half here.

Saturday morning we had an early wake up from our little bed partner, who decided to join us at some point during the night. This is why air BnBs with multiple rooms are so much better with kids. We ate our complimentary breakfast before heading out for that day’s adventure. Continue reading

Easter Weekend in the Granite Belt

Hi friends! I hope everyone had a great Easter weekend. Here in Australia, both Friday and Monday are public holidays so it’s a nice long weekend.

We had no real plans for the weekend until a week ago when we decided to head to our favorite little country town for a couple of nights. I have written about the Granite Belt quite a few times on here, since this was my sixth (Trav’s fifth) trip to the region. It’s only a few hours from Brisbane and home to a fruit fields, dairy farms, national parks and quite a few wineries.

The first weekend Travis and I spent in the area was in April 2016 when I was pregnant with Leighton (I had gone a girls trip before) and all of the leaves were the most gorgeous autumn colors. We really wanted to make it back again during Autumn this year, before our second child arrives in May.

A Weekend in Burleigh Heads

Hi friends! I was on a pretty good roll blogging several times a week there for about two seconds. Looks like I am back to my old bad habits though.

Well, as I mentioned in my Life Lately post- our trip two weekends ago to the coast was a pretty big wash out. Since no one was staying at our friend’s place the following weekend, we headed back to Burleigh Friday afternoon.

Life Lately: February

Hi friends! Hope everyone had a great weekend.

I’m going to be honest, this blog post started as a post about our weekend but then I realized it was pretty boring so I decided to just make an all encompassing life lately post since it is the end of the month anyway. I can’t believe Thursday is March (my birthday month!) and also the month I told myself I could start thinking about baby things. Without further ado, here is life with the Alkeks these days…

Valentine’s Day

You can’t recap February without mentioning Valentine’s Day. It was too warm to keep this outfit on all day, but I couldn’t resist getting some pictures of her in the sweetest heart tutu that was a gift from a friend back home.

8 Brisbane Day Trips

Hi friends! Today I thought I would share our favorite day trips from Brisbane. We are so lucky to live in such a spectacular area with so many diverse, beautiful places to spend our weekends exploring.

These are all trips that can be easily managed in one day. I plan on doing a separate post covering our favorite weekend getaways from here. I have also linked any blog posts I have written if you want anymore photos or information.
